Scotland is the first country in the world to make period products free for all women. Under a new law, tampons and pads will be available at designated public places, such as community centres, youth clubs and pharmacies.

The country already provides free products in schools and universities, and to some low-income families.
Period poverty is a huge problem for women around the world, and young people are particularly affected: they either cannot afford buying sanitary products or feel embarrassed buying the products.
