This is Amsterdam's ambitious plan to turn its transport electric. From 2022, every bus will be electric or hydrogen-powered. By 2030, every vehicle must be electric.

The city is subsidising electric vehicles (EVs) to help people switch and a growing second-hand market should entice new buyers, too. Thousands more charging points will be needed with a lot more electricity required. So a smart network will adjust charging speed according to demand: charging EVs slowly in the evenings when homes need power and faster at night.
